Manhattan Beach Pier, California
The first pier at this location was built in 1901 but destroyed by a storm 12 years later. It was replaced in 1920 and went through several changes before a restoration to its design in 1992. This time of year, a stroll down to see the sun set over the Pacific means walking back to shore with this festive light display putting a seasonal glow on the pier. Under the ‘tree’ at the end of the pier is the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab Aquarium, where visitors can see some of the fish that live in the sea below. Maybe Santa will bring the fish something nice this year.
