Rides above the tide. Brighton Palace Pier
One of Brighton's most prominent landmarks is Brighton Palace Pier. Opened in 1899, the pier has long been a destination for entertainment. The site has survived a closure during World War II, severe storms and a fire in 2003. A number of attractions and amusements are available on the pier, including traditional fairground rides like the carousel and helter-skelter, and modern thrills like the Booster and the Turbo Coaster. For those looking for seaside fare, there are several restaurants and kiosks serving classic British snacks like fish and chips, candy floss and ice cream. With a view of the city skyline on one side and the stunning sea on the other, this is a great spot for photography and sightseeing.
