This is the profile of Gautama Buddha, peeking out of tree roots at an ancient Buddhist temple that’s been overgrown in the city of Ayutthaya in Central Thailand. This city once served as the capital of the ancient kingdom of Ayutthaya, a Siamese kingdom that existed from 1351 to 1767 before it was destroyed by the Burmese army.
