Ferris wheel in the Tuileries Garden in Paris, France
In the heart of Paris is the Louvre, and right next door is the Tuileries Garden. Established in the 16th century by Queen Catherine de’ Medici as a royal garden, it became a public park after the French Revolution. Today, the Tuileries Garden will be full of people celebrating Bastille Day, a commemoration of the storming of the Bastille in 1789. Some Bastille Day traditions might seem familiar to us—parades, music, and fireworks figure into the revels.
