Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Head 20 miles east of the main entrances and viewpoints of Grand Canyon National Park so that you’re sure to see architect Mary Colter’s stone lookout tower. Colter was inspired by the watchtowers built by ancestral Puebloans of the area and studied those structures before she created this tower at the national park. The interior of the tower features murals by Hopi artist Fred Kabotie.
