A book lover’s paradise. World Book Day
'There is no friend as loyal as a book', as Ernest Hemingway wrote. We honour these loyal 'friends' today on World Book Day or International Day of the Book. UNESCO initiated this day of celebration in 1995 to recognize the pleasure of recreational reading. World Book Day coincidentally shares the same date—April 23—as William Shakespeare’s death. From April 23-29, National Library Week is a way to promote local libraries and the experience of reading a book in a library. We encourage you to find your next great read at a local library like the one in our image of the day, Stuttgart Public Library in Germany.
