Where can you find this cute creature?. Earth Day
It's Earth Day, the perfect chance to celebrate the rich biodiversity and vast beauty of life on our planet. While some animals have a near-global range, others exist in a narrow habitat. The island fox, seen in today's image, is a species native and exclusive to the Channel Islands of southern California. You can find them on six of the eight islands, each with a unique subspecies. As of 2021, there were less than 10,000 island foxes in the world, but their population is growing thanks to captive breeding and recovery planning by conservancy groups. As we go into National Park Week, remember the vital role our parks play in conserving Earth and protecting our wildlife.
