Tea and serenity. Munnar, India
The town of Munnar, in the Indian state of Kerala, is synonymous with rolling hills carpeted with lush tea plantations. The word Munnar means ‘three rivers’ in the local language of Malayalam, and the town is found at the meeting point of three mountain streams, about 5,250ft above sea level. Its landscape takes in forests, rolling hills, valleys and waterfalls, as well as the numerous tea plantations, first established in the area around 1880. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of the majestic Western Ghats mountain range, while sipping a nice hot cuppa.
