Parliament of Canada with eternal flame in foreground in Ottawa
Today marks the passing of the Constitution Act of 1867, which was the first major step toward Canada’s sovereignty. Pictured here is the Centennial Flame at the Parliament Hill in Ottawa, which was first lit during the centennial celebrations in 1967. During this sesquicentennial year, patriotic festivities, parades and firework displays are observed from coast to coast and across the Great Lakes. How are you celebrating Canada’s 150th year?
