Info. Rio Grande river, Big Bend National Park, Texas, USA
Big Bend National Park is an American park located in Texas, bordering Mexico. The park covers over 300,000 hectares and is one of the most remote spots in the United States. It's hours from the nearest towns or the closest airport, making it one of the least-visited national parks in the country. If you do come here, you’ll find rugged hiking trails, mountains, limestone canyons and hot springs alongside the famous Rio Grande river. The park protects more than 1,200 species of plants, over 450 species of birds, 56 species of reptiles and 75 species of mammals. This area is also one of the best places in North America for stargazing – it was listed as an International Dark Sky Park in 2012.
