Info. Abraham Lake, Alberta, Canada
Today, we’re taking in views of Alberta’s largest reservoir – Abraham Lake in Canada. It was created in 1972 following the completion of the Bighorn Dam on the North Saskatchewan River. The dam was built to produce hydroelectric power. Abraham Lake is a bright shade of blue, adding to the incredible view with the mountains in the background. It has become a popular place for photographers every winter. As the temperature drops, plants on the lake release methane gas, which causes frozen bubbles to form under the lake’s surface. When the layer of ice on the lake is clear, the frozen bubbles can be viewed and create a remarkable scene.
