Open, rolling grasslands
Located on the border of Saskatchewan in Canada and Montana in the U.S., Grasslands National Park boasts a range of biodiversity in the wilderness. The extreme cold winters and the extreme hot summers makes the environment ideal for exotic flora and fauna to flourish. The rolling plains may at first appear bland and deserted, however, Grasslands National Park boasts badlands, winding rivers, wildlife and several hiking trails. The 70 Mile Butte trail is a visitor favourite as it offers mesmerizing views of the Frenchman River Valley from the summit. While the trail includes a steep climb, which is not for the faint of heart, hikers can take in sights of roaming herds of bison, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, peregrine falcons and several smaller animals.
