The tomb of Akbar the Great near Agra
Today we take you to Akbar’s tomb. Considered one of the greatest of Indian kings, Akbar was the son of Humayun and the grandson of Babur, the first Moghul emperor to enter Indian regions. It was on this day in the year 1555 that Humayun declared Akbar as the heir to his throne. Less than a year later, Humayun died an ultimately death falling down the stairs of his library, making Akbar the emperor at just thirteen years of age!
