1 home to 108 temples of Shiva. Shiva temple, Kalna, West Bengal
Today in observance of Maha Shivaratri we take you to the temple town of Kalna in West Bengal. It is home to the 108 Shiva temples, built in 2 concentric circles. Considered an architectural wonder, you can see all the shiva lingams from the centre of the complex. Built by Maharaja Teja Chandra Bahadhur in 1809, the Shiva temples represent the beads of a rosary. The walls are adorned by drawings from the Ramayan and the Mahabharat.
