Seven-spot ladybird on a mushroom in Arnhem, Netherlands
That’s a Coccinella septempunctata about to fly away. Or you might know it by its common name: the seven-spot ladybird. This red-shelled insect doesn’t care what you call it, they’re just here to act as a natural pest control, eating up as many aphids as they can find. The most common ladybird in Europe, they can gobble up more than 5,000 aphids during their year-long life.
