Twinkle twinkle, little bugs. Nature Photography Day
A guaranteed antidote for a gloomy day is to surround yourself with nature. The flora and fauna, the sights, sounds and scents around us have the power to soothe our minds, bodies and souls. Imagine yourself immersed in this ethereal image that evokes a feeling of standing in a mystical forest, surrounded by towering trees, the murmuring of rushing streams and oh, luminous fireflies! The 'magical land' seen here is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, famous for its firefly season between May and June. Today we celebrate the anniversary of this magnificent national park, which coincides with Nature Photography Day. There may be no better specimen than the lightning bug to photograph on Nature Photography Day as photography is the art of capturing light in lasting images.
