Refugee migration from 2000-2016
Since the 1980s, the number of people seeking asylum, fleeing terrorism and war, or classified as ‘stateless’ has been on a steady climb. The United Nations created today’s observance to increase awareness among all citizens of the globe that those fleeing war and oppression are not a problem, but a responsibility--for all of us.
