Dolwyddelan Castle in Wales
A trip to Conwy County in the north of Wales would be incomplete without a visit to the remote site of Dolwyddelan Castle. Today it’s mostly in ruins, even after apparent additions and reinforcements made in the late 15th century. Welsh ruler Llywelyn the Great is believed to have commanded construction of Dolwyddelan Castle back in the early 1200s. Standing on a high hill above the surrounding farmlands, it still makes for a dramatic landmark and fascinating glimpse into the past.
