Interior ceiling view of Webb Chapel Park Pavilion, Dallas, Texas
If you can see this view in person, then welcome to Dallas! In 2012, officials were upgrading city parks, and in doing so, commissioned the clever design of a pavilion for shade and seating in Webb Chapel Park. This photo shows two of the four vaulted ceilings within. The steep, pyramid-like angles help draw air into the pavilion, providing a sort of natural air conditioning that’s welcome in the Texas heat. The exterior, appearing to be an unassuming concrete block, blends the structure into the existing landscape, maximizing green space and providing nearly a 360-degree view, thanks to carefully placed supports.
