Flamingos in Ebro Delta Natural Park, Catalonia, Spain
The Ebro Delta in Catalonia is one of Spain's most rewarding places to see flamingos. These unmistakable birds can be spotted throughout the year, often gathering in the delta's shallow lagoons, salt pans and coastal waters. Their long legs let them wade through the water while feeding, while their pink colouring comes from pigments found in their diet. With wetlands, rice fields, beaches and the Mediterranean all meeting here, the delta provides an important home for both resident and migratory birds. Flamingos have become one of its most recognisable sights, adding a splash of colour to this remarkable landscape.
