This 132-hectare greenspace is north of Southampton’s city centre and is a great place to see some of the local flora and fauna. A land-rights dispute in the 13th century led to the acquisition of the land as a common public space, but it wasn’t a designated public park until 1844. The Southampton Zoo was located here, but it’s since been transformed into an urban wildlife centre, focusing on local species.
