Simply gorge-ous. At the foot of the Watzmann
Today's homepage image shows the Wimbachklamm near Ramsau. It is located in the heart of Berchtesgaden National Park, nestled between the Watzmann and Hochkalter mountains. The Wimbach torrent has left a deep cut in the rock over the past 50 million years.Visit between May and October and you can pass over the Wimbachklamm yourself via a handy 200-metre wooden bridge. Only a few meters below that path, the Wimbach roars with defeaning intensity, as the rock walls throw back the sounds of the water masses over and over. Once reaching the top of the gorge, visitors can choose to either return to their starting point on a parallel path, or continue hiking through the Wimbachtal valley, an impressive sight that is more than 10 kilometres long.
