Modern, majestic and meaningful. Telangana Day
For decades, voices across Telangana echoed with the hope of identity and self-governance. Once part of the Telugu-speaking Hyderabad princely state, the region was merged with Andhra Pradesh in 1956. What followed was one of South India's longest statehood movements. After years of protests and political pushback, the dream became a reality on 2 June 2014. Telangana Day now honours that hard-won journey—a story of resilience, separation and a future reclaimed.
That future now takes visible form in the heart of Hyderabad. The new Telangana Secretariat is not just an administrative hub, but also a statement of vision and values. Officially named the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, this grand complex pays tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution. Designed by Chennai-based architects Ponni and Oscar Concessao and built by Shapoorji Pallonji, it blends modern governance with sustainable design. Towering beside it, a 38-metre statue of Ambedkar watches over—a symbol of justice, dignity and progress.
