Sunrise over Utah Lake near Provo, Utah

Despite its saline waters, Utah Lake is still technically a freshwater lake. Located near the Utah city of Provo, the lake remains quite chilly during the coldest months of winter (as the ice around its shore suggests). But come the summer season, Utah Lake’s waters become decidedly more comfortable. Why? It’s not only the heat, but the lake’s shallow waters play a role as well. The average depth of Utah Lake is just over three metres, with the deepest areas plunging about 4.2 metres. With the Wasatch Mountains offering a scenic view on the horizon, we think it looks like a lovely place for a splash.
