Stairway to heaven?. Cecil Brewer Staircase, London
This stunning staircase is known as the Cecil Brewer Staircase, and its architecture and beauty make it a popular tourist attraction in London. You can find it at Heal’s flagship location, which a furniture company established by John Heal in 1810. Cecil Brewer, the founder’s cousin, designed the staircase to take visitors to various departments at the store. The lights at the outer edge of the stairs were added after World War II, and the elegant-looking chandelier cascading from top to bottom in the center of the spiral was installed in 2013. If you visit, keep an eye out for a bronze cat on the stairs’ windowsill, the store’s not-for-sale official mascot.
