Over the Rainbow Mountain. Rainbow Mountain
The radiant colours of Vinicunca (aka Rainbow Mountain) in Peru might have gone unseen had rising temperatures not melted the peak's glacial caps. Rainbow Mountain's streaky sediment layers, multicoloured like a wildflower bloom, were revealed in 2015. Red clay, white silica and yellow sulphur are among the different minerals painting this stunning peak which has gone on to become the most-visited natural attraction in Peru's lofty Cusco region.
