Interior of an icon of Hyderabad
Today we take you to the interior of the Charminar, at Hyderabad. Usually, on the day of Bakrid, one could see more than the normal visitors to this icon of the city, as well as the markets that surround it. This year things are obviously a little different, but don’t let that dampen the spirit of Bakrid for you.
This sacrificial festival celebrated by Muslims all over the world (also known as Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban) commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son at the obedience of God. As the story goes, a lamb was provided instead, and thus this festival involves the sacrifice of a lamb or sheep in remembrance. A third of the sacrifice is given away to the needy, a third kept for home, and a third given to relatives.
