Embracing the winter freeze
Tasmania’s Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park offers spectacular sights no matter when you visit, but it’s especially excellent this time of year, when the colder weather offers up a little winter magic. We might not get a lot of snow on our shores, but here at the Tarn Shelf it gets cold enough for the series of small glacial lakes to freeze over - although as you can see, sometimes not completely. Some people still attempt to walk the nearby track (a journey which also provides views of Lake Newdegate, Twilight Tarn and Lake Webster) to snap a few pics, but considering how slippery it can get from rain and snow, we’re perfectly happy enjoying it from afar!
