Need a lift?. Time to hit the slopes
The winter months might make it infinitely harder to roll out of bed every morning, but they also usher in the start of the year’s ski season. The lifts you see in today’s image provide a brief respite for weary skiers and snowboarders visiting the slopes of Melbourne’s Mount Hotham – one of the country’s go-to winter wonderlands. Commonly referred to as Australia’s ‘powder capital’, Mount Hotham’s 230 hectares of snow fields feature downhill runs, cross country trails, plenty of jumps and 13 lifts that ensure your next shred is never too far away. If you’d prefer to stay rugged up, summer draws in an entirely different crowd, with locals and tourists opting to drive or cycle their way over Mount Hotham on a scenic 230-kilometre path.
