Chitals foraging for food, MP. The early-to-rise Chital deer
The spotted Chital deer is native to the Indian subcontinent. Known for its agility and anti-predatory techniques of fleeing and hiding, the Chital can jump fences as high as 5 feet, although it prefers to dive under if possible. Left to its devices though, this deer would rather just stay out of harm’s way and go about its business, like the ones in today’s homepage image photographed in Madhya Pradesh. If you are looking to spot one, this deer is known to stay out of harsh sunlight and prefers to go foraging for food at dawn of dusk.
