Relaxing on the river. At the base of Germany’s highest peak
About an hour's drive south of Munich, you'll find the idyllic Eibsee lake in the Bavarian Alps. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life, unwind and take in the beautiful scenery. The shimmering lake lies nearly 1,000 metres above sea level at the foot of the towering Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. Enjoy a stroll around the lake, hop on a boat or, if you're not afraid of heights, take a ride up the Zugspitze in a cable car, which offers you a spectacular bird's-eye view of the crystal-clear water.
