Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy
During this time of the year, the Firenze Light Festival brings new colour to Florence’s Old Bridge, or Ponte Vecchio. This historic structure has crossed the Arno River for centuries. In its early days, butchers and fishmongers operated here, but city leaders gave them the boot, citing the smell as too offensive. These days visitors will find jewellers and goldsmiths selling their goods, as well as tourists posing for a picture.
