Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley National Park, California
In the troughs between the vast dunes of Mesquite Flat are copses of the resilient trees that inspired the name of this portion of Death Valley National Park. The Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes are the most easily accessed dunes in the park, and are quite popular for that reason. If you’re planning a visit to Death Valley, come prepared: It’s consistently one of the hottest places on the planet, let alone North America. Stay hydrated and enjoy the strange beauty of this desert landscape.
