Eid-e-Milad or Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. It is widely believed that the Prophet was born in Mecca on the 12th day of Rabee-ul-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. The festival is celebrated by Muslims across the world. The followers start their day with a morning prayer, followed by taking out large processions and by visiting nearby mosques.
