Navagio Beach at Zakynthos, Greece
Ask the locals of Zakynthos about Navagio Beach, and you’re likely to get some variation on the legend of the boat that ran aground in this open cove in 1980. The veracity of that tale may depend on the storyteller. Of course, this just adds to the charm of Navagio, a.k.a. Smuggler’s Cove, a.k.a. Shipwreck Beach, on the northwest coast of this Greek island. The white sand, blue waters and accessible-only-by-boat status must be like catnip to Zakynthos tourists.
