Celebrating winter in the capital
Stretching some 7.8 kilometres through downtown Ottawa, the iconic Rideau Canal Skateway is the largest naturally frozen ice-skating rink in the world. Between January 31 and February 17, visitors from across the country flock to the capital to enjoy the merry festival of Winterlude. This free annual event features a vibrant display of ice sculptures, a snow playground, tube sliding, snowboarding lessons and lots more. With activities for people of all ages, Winterlude allows locals and tourists to indulge in Canada’s cultural and artistic diversity, while transforming the city into a giant winter wonderland.
