Harvest on the harbour. Portland's culinary culture
We’ve arrived in Portland, the most populous city in the US state of Maine. Named after the Isle of Portland in Dorset, the Portland on today’s homepage began with an economy based heavily on fishing, but over the years has built up a bustling service sector as well. The annual Harvest on the Harbour festival combines these two by showing off what local chefs and other food and drink professionals can do with the region’s varied culinary offerings, particularly the local speciality: lobster.
