Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy
During the holiday season, the Firenze Light Festival brings new color to Florence’s Old Bridge, or Ponte Vecchio. This historic structure has crossed the Arno for centuries. In its early days, butchers and fishmongers operated here, but city leaders gave them the boot, citing the smells as too offensive. These days visitors will find jewelers and goldsmiths selling their wares, as well as tourists posing for a picture.
