The Feathers at Frenchman Coulee near Vantage, Washington, USA
This long-exposure photo shows a hiker’s light marking the trail up to The Feathers, a rock formation near the small town of Vantage in the US state of Washington. The Feathers are popular with rock climbers, with routes featuring equally colourful names such as ‘Updrafts to Heaven’ and ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’. Nearby is Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park, where trees that are millions of years old have gradually turned to stone.
