What's SUP?

Modern standup paddleboarding (or SUP) was pioneered by surf instructors in 1940s Waikīkī to get a better view of students and incoming swells, so it was mostly a wave-riding sport until the 2000s. Around then, SUP touring caught on as a way to travel over waterways, lakes, and seas, with some perseverant paddlers completing journeys of 1,000 miles or more. This boarder is exploring the shores of Lovango Cay, a thinly inhabited outpost of the US Virgin Islands only accessible by watercraft.
