Warning: Nuggets
One glance at those rocks scattered in the ocean around Nugget Point illustrates just why a lighthouse was built on this New Zealand outcrop. The rugged Otago coast may be beautiful, but woe betide the sailor who bumps their boat into its many seabound stones. Not too surprisingly, these surf-tossed islets just off Nugget Point are called the Nuggets. Visitors can get a good view of them, and possibly a nearby gathering or two of fur seals, from the viewing platform in front of the lighthouse.
