A bubbly bevvy's birthplace
The Veneto Region's name relates to its most famous locale, Venice, but we're in quite a different world than that city of canals and islets. Here in the region's uplands, just 30 miles north of Venice, the Prosecco Hills unfurl in a patchwork of vineyards and winding roads. This aerial view captures Val Bona, a prized corridor of the wine country where DOCG-certified Prosecco Superiore is born. The rolling terrain and temperate climate make this UNESCO-listed landscape ideal for cultivating Glera grapes—the sparkling soul of Italy's favorite fizz.
