Straight over Compton

When the southwesterly winds blow toward shore, Compton Bay's conditions are perfect for catching some air above the English Channel. Windsurfing, kiteboarding, and—as seen here—paragliding are popular in this corner of the Isle of Wight. Not a fan of heights or waves? You can still catch decent views from the Isle of Wight Coastal Path, which skirts the bay's shores. Seventy miles long in total, the path passes through dozens of scenic seaside towns as it circles the whole island.
