Protecting Alaska
The stunning Cove of Spires you see today is just one of many dramatic glacial landscapes that you can experience in America’s Kenai Fjords National Park. Located near Seward, Alaska, the park is home to 38 glaciers which cover over half the park's area in ice - though unfortunately climate change has reduced that drastically over the last decades.
Still, many have tried to help protect this beautiful area. Back in 1980, US President Jimmy Carter signed the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act into law. This move converted massive tracts of Alaskan wilderness into protected land, doubling the size of America’s national park system at the time.
