The Palouse region in the Pacific Northwest is known for its picturesque landscapes, agricultural heritage and unique geological features. The Palouse is primarily an agricultural region, known for its wheat, barley, lentils, peas and other crops. The fertile soil and favourable climate make it an ideal location for farming. The unusual hills formed due to the unique geology of the Palouse, characterised by windblown loess, a type of loose soil composed of lightly compacted silt-sized grains.
