The Palouse region in the Pacific Northwest is known for its picturesque landscapes, agricultural heritage and unique geological features. The unusual hills formed due to the unique geology of the Palouse, characterised by windblown loess, a type of loose soil composed of lightly compacted silt-sized grains.
