Monument Valley in Arizona and Utah
Chances are, if you asked someone to describe the American West, they would speak of sandstone buttes, long stretches of desert valley, and the stunning colors of the landscape as the sun beats down. That description may well have been influenced by the numerous Westerns that have used Monument Valley as a filming location. Iconic director John Ford, who made several of his most famous films here in Monument Valley, even used it as a stand-in for Texas in his film ‘The Searchers.’
