The throne in this cave was built in the late 19th century during the reign of the Thai king Chulalongkorn. It’s managed by Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, less than 11 miles away, so many visitors to that mountainous park on the Gulf of Thailand coast include the cave on their itinerary. A hole in the cave’s ceiling floods the chamber with light every morning, a feature that’s understandably irresistible to photographers.
