Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving in Canada was formally celebrated for the first time on November 6, 1879. However, it wasn’t until 1957, when Thanksgiving was declared an annual festival. Every year, it takes place on the second Monday of October and is a statutory holiday across Canada except for in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Pictured here is the classic Indian corn. Commonly known as ‘flint,’ the kernels of Indian corn tend to be in shades of blue, white, and red. As one of the oldest varieties of corn and given its rustic look, the Indian corn has long been used for harvest decor and Thanksgiving.
