Today we’re in Stokes State Forest in New Jersey. This path is just a tiny part of the Appalachian Trail, a hiking trail in the Eastern United States. About 3,500 kilometres long, it is described as the longest hiking-only trail in the world and goes through 14 American states. More than two million people are said to hike part of the trail at least once each year. The trail was completed in 1937 and is home to thousands of species of plants and animals. The American black bear is among the largest animals that you may see along the Appalachian Trail.
